Check out the message from Paulo Schroeber to the fans, regarding his absence during the last Almah's shows in Brazil :

"I have a serious hereditary problem since childhood, which is dilated cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart) and I'm not 100% sure that I could give all myself in Almah's shows and therefore I can't come to the events of the band scheduled to the end of year because I'm in intensive care and need more time to recover, it's a diseases that has its ups and downs, it's the normal way, and are things that I'm used to live because I was born with this problem.

But even still I don't feel with all my potential, I'll continue working on the release of Motion, and recordings for future clips of the band.

I believe that in all these problems, always appear the positive side, as we become more united today, and the spirit of unity in the band is increasingly present and strong, because with all these difficulties, I can say that Almah became a large family to us, because for sure, and I'm speaking with an open heart, I feel I'm playing with my friends, above all, money and recognition are well below of that.

I'm sure that my band's mates will do a competent job and soon we will be together again in 2012 to play and show what Almah really worth.

I appreciate the support of all people, my band's mates, and especially the fans, without them none of this could be achieved.

Brazilian-based metallers Almah proudly present a new song from the upcoming album Motion which will be released on October 14th via AFM Records. For the online debut of the new CD Almah created a video clip for the song “Trace of Trait” with its own story and professional production. The footage was done in Caxias do Sul, a city in the South of Brazil at the end of August under direction of producer and photographer Alex Milesi. The video is available on the official channel of the band in Youtube :

"We had an idea to prepare something special for our fans, that’s why we decided to release not simply some audio single but a full-fledged Video Clip! – commented Almah’s frontman Edu Falaschi: - We have chosen “Trace of Trait” for the first presentation of Motion because this song is very strong in many ways… and I’m totally sure that it represents well the language and identity of Almah! We worked with this director, Alex Milesi, for the first time. He is a very nice man and he had various good ideas for us. Everything during the shooting went on very well and we are very happy with the result."

Motion was recorded in São Paulo, Brazil at Norcal Studios in May-June 2011. The album was mixed and mastered at Split Second Sound Studios (Amsterdam, Netherlands) by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) in July. The release dates are the following: October 14th (Europe, North America / AFM Records), September 16th (Brazil / Laser Company), October 14th (Latin America / Icarus Records), October 19th (Japan / Victor JVC). Japanese edition of Motion will contain a bonus track.

We are proud to announce that a brand new online Single from the upcoming album Motion will be available for streaming from September 8th via the official channel of the band in Youtube.

The single will represent the new face and direction of Almah. After successful power metal masterpiece “Fragile Equality” released in 2008, Almah returns with the 3rd studio effort “Motion” as an experienced matured band with many new ideas and without any fear to be up-to-date and to move forward towards its own language and identity.

According to Almah’s frontman Edu Falaschi, "for the first presentation of the new CD the band has chosen a song that represents Almah of today in the best way. You’ll hear a track with fantastic chorus, beautiful and catchy melody, amazing guitar solos and heavy agressive parts. Believe me: the result is very nice, crazy and creative!"

Brazilian-based metallers Almah have announced that their new album Motion will be released on October 14th via AFM Records. The band worked on the new CD in São Paulo, Brazil at Norcal Studios in May-June 2011. The material was mixed and mastered at Split Second Sound Studios (Amsterdam, Netherlands) by Jochem Jacobs (Textures) in July. A brand new digital single will be available for online streaming in the beginning of September.

The release dates of Motion in other countries are the following :

- September 16th (Brazil / Laser Company),
- October 14th (Latin America / Icarus Records),
- October 19th (Japan / Victor JVC).

Almah : title and cover artwork of the forthcoming album revealed

Almah has confirmed the title of its upcoming third album, the follow-up to the previous success “Fragile Equality”, as “MOTION”. The cover artwork is available above.

According to Edu Falaschi: “The cover has been created by myself with my own iPhone. I took a picture in Paris and used some applications to create that motion effect. Then Felipe used my picture and re-created this artwork in high resolution using Photoshop and completed it with new elements. This time we wanted something modern and direct to represent our music and we are totally sure that we got the result we really wanted since the very beginning. This CD will show the real Almah's language and personality! Stay tuned for further news!”

According to Paulo Schroeber : "Without any doubt, one of the albums I'm most proud of writing in my life, I believe that the band never was as much in harmony and I think we found our style of playing on this record, heavy as hell but without forgetting melodies and harmonies.I hope you'll enjoy."

At the moment the band is finishing the recording of the new CD at Norcal Studios (São Paulo, Brazil). Motion is to be released this fall via AFM Records (Europe&North America), Laser Company (Brazil) and Victor JVC (Japan). The album is produced by Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli.

Edu Falaschi comments recording of the guitars for the new Almah album

Almah and Paulo Schroeber keep working on the third studio album, the follow-up to the previous success, Fragile Equality (2008). This Monday, frontman and founder of Almah, Edu Falaschi, revealed a few details about recording of the new album in an interview to Heavy Nation program broadcasted by one of the most important internet radio stations in Brazil, UOL Radio.

Here is the part of the interview including the words of Edu about the guitars recorded by Paulo Schroeber and Marcelo Barbosa :

"“It’s the fastest CD-recording I’ve ever done in my life! – tells Edu. – We began working at the end of April and had everything together within one month! I mean, the pre-production, arrangements, the basic parts/solos creation and the guitars/bass/drums recording... Everything took less than one month! [...]

It’s the heaviest stuff I’ve ever recorded in my life, the guitar work kicks ass! The guitar parts have been recorded with 7-strings instruments, half-step down (B flat), and the result is very solid and heavy. The rhythm guitars were played four times for extra punch. The new stuff will show that Almah is not really a melodic metal band… But, mainly, this album will make it clear that Almah stands on its ground on the scene! While the first CD was my solo one, and the 2nd, Fragile Equaity, was the first album with the current line up, then unknown for the public, this time Almah is very well consolidated as a band. It’s got its own place, sound, identity and, also very important, its own true fan army!”

Paulo Schroeber / Almah : headliner at ForCaos Festival

Almah has recently confirmed its first show in 2011, the band will be one of the headliners of the annual ForCaos Festival that will take place on 21-23 of July in Fortaleza (Brazil).

ForCaos Festival is one of the most important underground events to the Northeast of Brazil. The history of ForCaos started in 1999 and this year it will bring together bands and metalheads for the 13th time.

Besides the headlining show on 22th of July (Friday) Almah will play a pocket show (20/07, entrance is free).

Almah entered the studio yesterday

Almah has recently finished pre-production of the 3rd studio album, the long-awaited follow-up of “Fragile Equality” (2008). Yesterday the band entered Norcal Studio in São Paulo to start the drums recording. Entire band participated in composing of the new material and according to the musicians, the album will include 10 songs and the whole stuff will be really heavy and up-to-date with less influences of typical melodic metal:

“This CD will affirm the identity of the band. It will be a style which I love and adore! I’ve been looking for this kind of satisfaction as a musician and as a person over the years”, – tells Edu Falaschi

The line-up of the band remains the same: Edu Falaschi (vocals), Felipe Andreoli (bass), Marcelo Barbosa (guitars), Paulo Schroeber (guitars), Marcelo Moreira (drums). The material will be mixed and mastered in Europe (Holland).

The release of the new CD, as-yet-untitled, is planned for September 2011 worldwide.

Almah was established by Edu Falaschi in 2006 and released the first self-titled album in 2006 (Asia, Brazil)/2007 (Europe, North America). The second CD, Fragile Equality saw the light of day in the fall of 2008 through JVC (Asia)/Laser Company (Brazil)/AFM Records (Europe, North America) and became one of the most significant and best selling power metal albums at that time. The Fragile Equality tour started in São Paulo in November 2008 and finished in June 2010 in Brasília. Then the musicians began to prepare new ideas. We are glad to announce that ALMAH enters the Norcal Studios in São Paulo on 2th of May to record the material for the long awaited 3rd album, the follow-up of successful Fragile Equality (2008).

Here is the English translation of the interview of Paulo Schroeber for Rio Metal Blog (read the interview in Portuguese here) !

Paulo Schroeber was born in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, on 18th of August 1973. When he was 18 Paulo decided to improve his musical level and to study the classical acoustic guitar. Very soon Paulo became acquainted with the work of guitar masters, and was able to continue guitar studies on his own. Having played with a few underground bands, today Paulo Schroeber is famous on the metal scene of Brazil due to his work with such bands as Naja, Astafix and Almah.

Rio Metal Blog : Paulo, you were involved with music since very early age. How did your first contact with music happen? How did you choose to play Heavy Metal?

Paulo : It was a rather funny case. My father used to listen to a lot of German music and my sister’s boyfriend of that time left “Restless and Wild” album of Accept among other discs and I put it into the player. It happened 22 years ago, hahaha... I was fucking scared because the album began with a German song, then it seemed to be the sound of a scratched disc, and then a trommel came... it was like a slap in the face, my jaw dropped, and since then I have never stopped to listen to metal and this album is still one of my favorites.

Rio Metal Blog : How did you become a professional musician? What are your main influences in the musical field?

Paulo : It happened only due to my passion for the music, nothing more nothing less. My main influences are Tony Iommi and Jason Becker, besides some fusion guitarists like Allan Holdsworth.

Rio metal Blog : Many musicians always tell that in order to become a good guitarist it’s necessary to learn the acoustic guitar first. Do you agree that it’s the most natural way to master the instrument or it can be more direct?

Paulo : Particularly, I began my study with acoustic guitar, playing pieces of Bach and Villa Lobos, and it has been reflected in my technique and the left hand’s position. But you can begin your study with electric guitar without problems.

Rio Metal Blog : On your Myspace http://www.myspace.com/pauloschroeber it is mentioned that your first band was Fear Ritual. What happened with this band and how did it help you later on?

Paulo : Unfortunately, the band split due to personal problems and musicians’ disgust. But Alessandro Amorin and me are getting together in order to make some different work basing on the songs of original Fear Ritual.

Rio Metal Blog : You also participated in Burning In Hell and Predator - quite different bands from the sound point of view. Which style do you prefer to play and how do you get along with these style differences?

Paulo : I love a lot aggressive and heavy sound, it’s cool that in Almah I’m able to arrange this controversial point putting a bit of my own personality in the songs. I consider myself as a versatile guy and I believe that I don’t have problems managing my projects in different ways.

Rio Metal Blog : From your opinion, how much important is the sound diversity for a professional in music?

Paulo : It has basic importance for a professional who wants to live by music, because today it’s not so easy to live by music and it can get worse even more in case musical coverage of a person is small.

Rio Metal Blog : How do your studies look today and where do you find the inspiration to compose?

Paulo : Now I study 4-6 hours every day, but I’m connected with music 24 hours per day because I give lessons, I work with some production companies etc. Actually, the inspiration is born naturally. I don’t think about anything special at the moment of composing, the things flow in a natural and spontaneous way.

Rio Metal Blog : Paulo, one of your most renowned projects is Naja, you got a few awards with this band, could you tell us more about it?

Paulo : Yes, it’s true. It was a funny period of time, because the sound of that band was simpler, we had a young girl as a vocalist and the lyrics were in Portuguese. We made many shows here, in our state, we had a good promotion, we recorded a CD and a live DVD. But today I'm too much of an old uncle to play this kind of music...hahaha!!!!

Rio Metal Blog : How did your “incursion” into Almah happen? What was the result of Fragile Equality Tour?

Paulo : It happened due to a recommendation of Marcelo Moreira, then I passed a test before entering Almah. We did some pre-productions in the house of Edu and soon he showed it to the rest of the band and a short time later it was decided that I join Almah. The result of the tour was very positive as a personal experience and I’m looking forward to go to the next tour with our future third album.

Rio Metal Blog : How can you describe the climate in the band and how do the bandmembers get along with each other? Is there any funny story you could tell us?

Paulo : It’s as calm as possible. Actually, after Angra’s comeback and Almah’s taking break I’m talking more with Felipe (Andreoli, bass player of Angra and Almah) who is going to record bass parts for my instrumental solo CD. Many funny things happened! But the most amusing case was a churrasco that we made in Barbosa’s house in Brasília. Besides being foolishly oversalted due to Marcelo Moreira, the meat was transported to the fire in a bucket for washing the floor we found behind the apartment’s door, huahuahua!!!

Rio Metal Blog : There’s another band you participate in, Astafix, and it takes more space right now. How did you enter the band? How is it going on with the release and how did the public accept your work?

Paulo : It’s going on fantastic!!! We’ve already recorded one more videoclip for the song Desordem e Retrocesso, and we’ve just finished the live dvd of Astafix in São Paulo. Wally (the vocalist of Astafix) got to know me thanks to the producer Brendan Duffey from Norcal Studios and he went to see me playing a show with Almah (in Santo André). Very soon we were drinking beer in a bar and he invited me to join the band and I accepted because I enjoy more aggressive and heavier sound.

Rio Metal Blog : Paulo, you’ve been on stage for a long time, what can you say about the present musical industry? What do you think about mp3 files transmission?

Paulo : I think that everything is very complicated. On one hand, it’s much easier to get to music and artists you like, but on another hand it’s rather impossible for a band of the middle or small level to sign a label deal. I don’t care at all, because, on the yet another hand, there’s a freedom to release the work of any musicians provided by the Internet which without any doubt turned to be the main medium for publication today.

Rio Metal Blog : There are many Rock/Metal fans in Brazil. What do you think we missed to turn the stage better?

Paulo : The public exists but we still need more fans who go to mid-size and small shows.

Rio Metal Blog : Your latest project is Hammer 67, what about the advantages of this band?

Paulo : There’s a very heavy sound with the main emphasis in the arrangements, because we didn’t want to make the things too much complicated. It has a lot of influences of Industrial metal bands, we already have a videoclip for the song “1984” and one CD, “Mental Illnes”. We are working at the promotion and soon we are going to play a few shows in the central part of Brazil.

Rio Metal Blog : Is there a musician you’d like to work with?

Paulo : I invited a fantastic drummer to record my CD, his name is Rodrigo Zorzi, besides the bassist Felipe Andreoli. At the moment I’m finishing my CD, and I don’t know who I want to work with at the next projects.

Rio Metal Blog : And what about your further projects?

Paulo : Now I’m finishing my instrumental CD and my DVD lessons, I’m working at new albums of Astafix and Hammer 67. And soon we’ll be united to compose the 3rd CD of Almah, so there’re a lot of things to do!!!

Astafix : Paulo Schroeber in the band's interview for Hornsup

Paulo Schroeber recently gave an interview (in Portuguese) with his band's mates from Astafix for Hornsup website. In this interview, the musicians speak about the most topical subjects of the current moment in the band’s career. Here is an English translation of the answers of Paulo Schroeber ! Enjoy ;)

A year of band, a super praised album, two clips, a Chilean tour and you still think that's only the band from a CPM's former ? Astafix has talked with us and revealed some details about the recording of "End Ever", with the participation of Andreas Kisser and gave some news about the band's walking plans. Check out the chat with Wally (vocals, guitar) Ayka (bass and vocals), Paulo (guitar) and Thiago (drums).

Hornsup : With the success of the album "End Ever", you have done several shows in Brazila and were awarded as metal revelation of 2009 by the readers of the magazine Roadie Crew. What is the importance and the impact of this award ?

Paulo : It's true ! We didn't expect it, and when we looked at Roadie Crew we were very happy, it's great to see our work recognized in this way because we had no idea that we would win this award. We are a relatively new band on national scene,and winning this award was very gratifying for us, because in addition to make stronger the interest of the public for the band, we were working hard to spread "End Ever" at the time, it's also reinforces the fact that Asatfix is here to stay.

Hornsup : Your tour took place in Chile, how was the shows ?

Paulo : It was very interesting to know other cultures, other people, especially in a wonderful country as Chile. Because, besides great food, Chileans are very welcoming and friendly people. I made many friends there, and I hope to see my Chilean Brothers soon. And of course, I can't fail to mention that they have one of the best beers I've ever had the pleasure to drink !

Hornsup : Do you think it's normal, especially with the more extreme bands, that apparently happen in a scene more friendly than pop, for example, where the natural competition appears to be more competitive and less united ?

Paulo : I think everything nowadays, which is exclusively based on profits generates this kind of situation, regardless the job. In music, it couldn't be different. But when you do a real job, when you put your heart in your music, competitiveness disappears, generating a collective affinity between the bands and also the public.

Hornsup : The influences of most bands are usally Slayer, Metallica, Sabbath, AC/DC, these are pratically unanimous. Being such great influences as well for you, what do you consider as bands that currently able to innovate and be as striking as these ? Who do you usally hear and follow ?

Paulo : I've always like Venom, hellhammer and Celtic Frost, and now the new album of Tom Warrior, Triptykon which kills.

Hornsup : After a year together, how much is boring (if it's bothered at some point) to be the new band of Wally (ex-CMP) ?

Paulo : it doesn't bother me, Wally spent some time in medias for a while, this is inevitable. I think it's normal and transitional, and I believe that soon, people will no longer refer to the past of anyone in Astafix.

Hornsup : Except Wally, all still playing with their original bands, Astafix is now your priority ?

Paulo : Yes, I'm still playing in all my original bands. I started playing with Almah, who takes a break now, I got my industrial metal band here in my region, Hammer 67, and I'm finishing my instrumental project. I'm always trying to work equally on my projects, but now Astafix is my main focus because we are working hard in producing the DVD "Live in São Paulo" and we are already composing several songs for our new album."

Paulo Schroeber, the guitarist of the band Almah, will launch in the first half of 2011 his first video lesson in DVD. The video is sponsored by compagnies who are supporting the artist, Condor Guitars and Orange.

In this DVD which will last 90 minutes, the artist will reveal some details regarding his involvement on Almah second album - "Fragile Equality" (released in 2008) - and will present all the equipment he uses in the current phase of his career.

Paulo Schroeber : "Here's another video of the lyrics of Reaction and Drawn By The Tides of Hammer 67 (Mental, Illness, 2010), in order to know better our work.

Born in 2006 with Paulo Schroeber and Niuton Paganella (vocals), Hammer 67 started as a project based on heavy guitar riffs and industrial beats, where they could explore their musical experiences and creativity freely. After a bunch of reunions and discussions, they started to play and record.
After some time they got a dozen of tracks that they consider ready; they got an incentive from Caxias do Sul city hall called Fundoprocultura, and so the album could be recorded. The project, and after the band, was baptized in homage of a great old band form their city called “Aliança Rebelde’s”; which have a song called “Martelinho 67”. After two years of work, “Mental Illness” came out of the factory and now is available; with twelve tracks of a blasting sound and a new and different musical approach. For the drumming they invite Rodrigo Zorzi and the bass was played by Marcio Venz.

The final result was so pleasant for the musicians that made the guys took the decision of turn the project into a real band and hit the road. The team was completed with Evandro Brito on the guitars to make possible the execution of the complete arrangements. A musical video clip of the track “1984” was recorded with the artistic direction of Alex Milesi.

Hammer 67 put in the album all the influences and inspiration they have collected during years on the road with their former bands, and the result was an intense metal with heavy guitar arrangements and some electronic and industrial influences, everything mixed with aggressive voice arrangements and a rich mix of influences that goes from Black Sabbath to Marilyn Manson; also traveling trough AC-DC, Rob Zombie, Pantera and Slipknot.

The lyrics was based upon some of the diseases of the human soul, like hate, envy, laziness, luxury, alcoholism and drug addiction; diving deep in the darkness of sick thoughts like parental killing and suicidal tendencies. The controversial sides of the sick mind were shown; saw by the point of view of the person who lives the problem and not necessarily got consciousness of having a problem.

The album was pre-produced in Schroeber’s home studio (Chapelão Studios) and recorded and mixed in Digital Master Studio, with the technical support of Juliano Boz. The final production, mixing and mastering was made by Schroeber and Boz, with the artistic direction of Schroeber. The art concept of the album was created by Benhur Lima and the photography was under responsibility of Alex Milesi.

Rock in Rio is a music festival created by the Brazilian businessman Roberto Medina, and the first edition was held in 1985.

Initially held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), whence the name of the event, Rock in Rio has become an event of worldwide impact, and in 2004, held its first international edition in Lisbon, Portugal.

Throughout its history, the Rock in Rio had nine editions, three in Brazil, four in Portugal and two in Spain. In 2008, the event took place in two different countries, Lisbon (Portugal) and Madrid (Spain).

The next edition of the Rock in Rio will be held in 2011 in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazilian prog power metal band feat. Angra’s singer Edu Falaschi ALMAH has just finished another part of Fragile Equality Tour. The band played in various cities of Brazil finishing this leg on the stage of Marreco’s fest in Brasilia.

ALMAH’s founder, frontman and mastermind Edu Falaschi has come up with an official statement about the recent tour and the future of the band :

“I would like to give a lot of thanks to everybody from the name of Almah for your incredible love and support during these five years of the band. The whole FRAGILE EQUALITY TOUR was unforgettable, mainly due to the amazing presence of the fans on the latest shows: it’s impossible to explain how it feels to see you singing along to all our songs! We haven’t been able to visit all the cities where we would like to play, but we will make it possible in the next tour! At the moment Felipe Andreoli and me are quite busy with the new ANGRA’s things, which naturally slow down the rhythm of Almah activities. However, it doesn’t mean that the band will be stopped. We are already working at new ideas for the next album and when the best moment for it comes we will record a new CD and we will back on track! See you soon, my friends!
